Rocket Yoga
“It gets you there faster”. Rocket yoga is not yet well known style in South Africa. Created by Larry Shultz (aka “the bad man of the Ashtanga yoga”) in 1989, this method became increasingly popular in the Western world. The style is based on three first series of Ashtanga yoga, and is made accessible to practitioners of all levels. Just like Ashtanga yoga, Rocket sequence helps balance the nervous system, purify the body and steady the mind.
But these are by far not the only benefits of Rocket Yoga. Just like Ashtanga, Rocket yoga tends to be more vigorous in its flow than other styles, and therefore provides a bit more cardiovascular exercise. The style doesn’t only increase mobility and flexibility, but also improves strength and stamina. It also teaches a set of incredibly fun skills, from arm balances and handstands to floaty transitions between the poses. It helps practitioners discover their own physical and mental abilities.
I am passionate about the Rocket yoga style as I believe every practitioner deserves to experience the magic of traditional style, in a safe and playful way without the limitations of the asana hierarchy as taught traditionally in the Ashtanga method.
Power / Conditioning
An intense dynamic class to build strength based on exercises from push ups and planks to arm balances and handstand. Aimed at boosting your yoga practice, making you feel confident upside down, while eliminating harmful habits and correcting muscle imbalances.
Ended with some functional flexibility and headstand play.
Get ready to sweat and feel amazing!
Functional Flexibility
This is not a usual yoga class with stretching.
Expect all things functional: controlled articular rotations, mobility exercises, PNF, with added elements of pilates and yoga, as we explore and improve full range of motion to reduce joint pain and risk of injury in flexibility asanas, to gain more control in end range as you strengthen yourself in the positions where you are normally most vulnerable.
Suitable for all levels.
Inversion Skills
While conditioning and strength training is essential not only for inversion but for our bodies to stay healthy, getting, staying and moving upside down requires a lot more technique, focus and fine tuning.
We’ll focus on technical part of the arm balances, some tricky yoga transitions and of course spend a lot of time upside down: lifting, holding, lowering.
A slower session with a lot more attention to refining technique through repetition.
A confident headstand or ability to hold a handstand at the wall is required.
Slow Flow
A moving meditation. Vinyasa flow class with slow transitions, static holds and divine stretches, synced with breath to calm the mind and draw attention inward, while gradually strengthening and stretching.
Not to be confused with yin yoga, as this class will still challenge your balance, strength and coordination.
Suitable for all levels.
